What can Counselling help with?
Many of the people that I work with come to counselling because they are struggling with difficult emotions and they would like things to change. Maybe they are struggling with feelings around a relationship, or perhaps they are having difficult issues at work, or maybe they have concerns about the well-being of themselves or others. Whatever it is that is causing you to feel distressed is worth exploring because you matter.
What might be the benefits of Counselling?
Counselling is about giving you the space to be heard without any judgement. As your counsellor, I would listen attentively to what you say, and how you say it. Some people describe this as listening to the music behind the words. Just being truly heard can be very beneficial and healing.
As you share your story with me, I will help you to gain a deeper understanding of your thoughts and feelings. This can help you to have a new understanding of yourself and your situation. Often, when people have counselling, they are also able to recognise that they are important people too. This helps their self-confidence to grow and they begin to feel more confident in making decisions that are right for them.
The thought of having counselling and reaching out to another can feel really scary, I understand this through my own experience. This is why I believe that it is so important to treat clients with kindness and respect.
