Your Counselling questions answered…
When you start, you may already have an idea of how many sessions you would like. We can arrange a set amount, or keep the therapy open ended. Either way, the length can be reviewed every few weeks. Generally longer-term therapy may allow more exploration and a deeper therapeutic relationship.
The counselling sessions that I offer are usually weekly for 50 minutes. This gives us the chance to build a relationship where you feel safe enough to really explore the issues that are causing you concern.
My fees are £45 for each 50 minute session. There is no reduction for sessions if you arrive later or leave earlier.
I also offer concessionary rates for counselling students.
Fees are payable electronically 24 hours in advance of each session.
Before counselling starts, I offer a free initial telephone consultation. This can last up to 30 minutes. It is without obligation and it gives you the chance to ask any questions that you might have.
The first session is a little different to other sessions as it is more about information gathering. I would need to take some information from you so that I can work with you in a safe way and this will include taking emergency contact details. In this meeting I will also share with you my policies about confidentiality.
For remote counselling sessions I use the Zoom App or the telephone. A link to Zoom can be found here (https://zoom.us/download). If you have any questions about using Zoom we can discuss these in the initial consultation
If you are thinking of having counselling remotely it is important to think about your physical privacy. Do you have somewhere that will be free from interruptions for an hour so that you will feel comfortable to talk?
Thinking about your internet is also important. Are you able to secure a good connection or is this difficult to negotiate with other users?
Your internet privacy is also important, and we will talk about this at the first session.
