Your Counselling questions answered…
When you start, you may already have an idea of how many sessions you would like. We can arrange a set amount, or keep the therapy open ended. Either way, the length can be reviewed every few weeks. Generally longer-term therapy may allow more exploration and a deeper therapeutic relationship.
The counselling sessions that I offer are usually weekly for 50 minutes.
My fees are £45 for 50 minutes for face to face counselling and £40 for 50 minutes for remote counselling over Zoom or telephone. I also offer concessionary rates for students.
Fees are payable electronically 24 hours in advance of each session.
Before counselling starts, I offer a free 15-minute consultation without obligation to give you the chance to ask any questions that you might have.
The first session is a little different to other sessions as it is more about information gathering. I would need to take some information from you so that I can work with you in a safe way and this will include taking emergency contact details. In this meeting I will also share with you my policies about confidentiality.
Your Privacy is important to me and I am committed to being a good custodian of your personal information. To do this I work within current legislation, I follow the requirements of my insurers and I also follow the Ethical framework of the BACP. Confidentiality will be discussed in detail at our first meeting. You can view the Privicy Policy by clicking here
I use the Zoom App for counselling. A link can be found here (https://zoom.us/download). I will also send instructions about using Zoom before our first session. If you prefer not to use video apps, telephone counselling is also available.
If you are thinking of having counselling remotely it is important to think about your physical privacy. Do you have somewhere that will be free from interruptions for an hour so that you will feel comfortable to talk?
Thinking about your internet is also important. Are you able to secure a good connection or is this difficult to negotiate with other users?
Your internet privacy is also important, and we will talk about this at the first session.
